Fox’s Avatar is going to Make Life Worse.

I hated Avatar… It is still one of the most worthless and forgettable movies I’ve ever seen. Adam Sandler movies are more remarkable than Avatar.

It was so obvious that the creators were solely interested in making the movie look as technologically advanced as possible. They didn’t give a hoot about the story.

Everything was about looks.

…in 2020, when the first of four planned “Avatar” sequels opens. With a collective budget expected to surpass $1 billion, Murdoch said “these will be the most expensive movies of all time.”

Director and writer James Cameron has taken Murdoch through scripts and storyboards and some other rough renderings, and the Fox mogul said he’s excited for the filmmaker’s return to Pandora, the mystical alien world where the first film unspooled.

“This is a tremendous intellectual property for us,” Murdoch said

And that isn’t going to change.

I promise you… once again the future Avatar films are all going to be about creating technologically advanced visuals and nothing more. All it’ll be is “look at this pretty colorful thing we made !” followed by “that’ll be $29.99 per super-duper HD theater ticket please“.

I hope you noticed this part of the article as well… it’s very illuminating of how these people think.

Fox’s film studio has been talking with theater owners for months about a deal that would enable them to release films on-demand within weeks of their debut. Currently, customers cannot buy or rent films for some 90 days after they bow in theaters. Fox and others want to change that, and offer films for between $30 to $50 a rental

Hope you enjoy your $49.99 rental of the upcoming Avatar movies! Available through Comcast and DISH as a 24 hour rental only (i bet anything that’s what’ll happen).

It’ll be totally worth it. This isn’t about creating new, bland, risk free content to drive sales… noooo… that’s too cynical of a thing to expect from… Fox.

Oh also…

CAMERON: Right from the beginning I said, “She’s got to have tits,” even though that makes no sense because her race, the Na’vi, aren’t placental mammals. I designed her costumes based on a taparrabo, a loincloth thing worn by Mayan Indians. We go to another planet in this movie, so it would be stupid if she ran around in a Brazilian thong or a fur bikini like Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C.
