It’s the darkest Star Wars movie yet: Should you take the kids to see The Force Awakens? A non-spoiler parent’s guide to the PG-13 movie.

Are you planning to reach out to your young child and say: “Join me, and together we will rule Star Wars: The Force Awakens together?”

There are a few things you may want to consider in advance. Ever since the film received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America, some parents have wondered whether the movie is appropriate for younger children.

Look, it doesn’t matter.

Nothing anybody tells you about Star Wars: The Force Awakens will make a dang bit of difference.

You have to see it for yourself to actually know if this movie is appropriate for your kids.

And sitting there and going “It’s the darkest yet!!! Because LOOK PG-13!!!!!” is so ridiculously unhelpful.

First off this is the first movie in a new Star Wars series. It is not going to be dark.
It is going to be open, upbeat, happy.
It’s going to reflect that this is a new adventure we’re all going on.
It’s going to be an introduction to new characters and planets.

I seriously believe that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be a pretty appropriate movie for children. There’s just no way Disney would start off a new film series with a dark scene like Anakin slaughtering younglings like he did in Revenge of the Sith.

If you are concerned about whether or not the movie is appropriate, wait for your friend to see it. Or have a date night and see it for yourself, before your kids. Articles like the one above are just big bags of crap used to make money. They don’t give a rats butt about your kids having a crappy moment in the theater because the movie became too dramatic for them.
