An Update on Trump’s Glowering Portrait

A little while ago I criticized Donald Trump’s, what I thought was official, glowering presidential portrait.

Specifically because it’s glowering and that’s weird as heck to be hanging everywhere.

But! News!!! Fun!!!!!

In the lobby of every federal building, just inside security turnstiles and before the elevator banks, a framed photograph of the president has always hung on the wall.

Not so anymore. Nearly eight months after Donald Trump’s inauguration, pictures of the president and Vice President Pence are missing from thousands of federal courthouses, laboratories, military installations, ports of entry, office suites and hallways, and from U.S. embassies abroad.

That’s fine by me… it’s a little dictator-ish to have a portrait of the president everywhere. As head bureaucrat, yeah I get it the other bureaucrats want to see their dear leader. But the reality is a photograph printed on 50 cent photo paper and hung on a decrepit beige wall just isn’t important.

A portrait without context, a portrait without meaning, a portrait made only because a portrait is supposedly needed… just is not important.

Want an important photograph for government walls? Use photographs of bureaucrats actually accomplishing things.

Not bland as water portraits.

Anyways… to continue…

White House spokeswoman Lindsay E. Walters said in a statement: “All agencies who have requested the President’s portrait have received a photo to display. We’re still in the process of creating the official portrait. Once it’s been produced, the White House photo office will distribute it to all of the agencies and other requests.”

Ah okay, so Trump’s glowering portrait where he apparently thinks he looks like Churchill… a revered and surprisingly deep individual… is not in fact the official official portrait.

That’s certainly interesting.

How long does it take to make up a bland portrait exactly? It’s almost like the White House is… dysfunctional… huh…
