Tales of Interest! – Art on Amazon

art on amazon… lol…

The Story…

Out of curiosity, one night I searched “art” on Amazon to see what would come up… I didn’t pick any categories… it was just a massive list of popular items.

So I dug in and started looking through the listings. Most of them were kids art supplies… which is understandable. Amazon does not sell many art supplies itself and mostly just sells school supplies / office stuff / and kids art supplies.

But a few were paintings…

Like this gem… “Generic 100% Hand-painted Wood Framed on the Back Oil Wall Art Sea White Full Moon Night Home Decoration Abstract Landscape Oil Painting on Canvas 5pcs/set Mixorde

What a catchy title! Shockingly the painting has 629 reviews, most of which don’t exactly seem real. But people are buying it…

As you can read in the screenshot of the top reviews above… the real sounding reviews from people who bought the painting are quite negative concerning the quality! Who could’ve guessed! Well me for one…

Quality wise…

A 5 piece painting for $29.79 is an absurd price. A single tube of quality oil paint costs more than that. Let alone the labor costs. I can’t imagine that this painting was made anywhere but in one of those Chinese ‘art factories’ using suspiciously cheap paints and thin canvas.

If you really want some art decor for a room please avoid things like that… the price should tell you right away that it’s too good to be true for a hand-painted painting.

If you don’t want to spend more than around $50 you can always get a print off of Imagekind.com…

If you want a real painting… then please consider spending the ~ $200 to get yourself something nice off of Etsy.

Something to think about…

The Absurd Thing…

One of the most absurd things I found while searching Amazon was a print of Anne Hathaway… in a see through dress… printed on an aluminum panel. Like who on this earth would ever buy that?????

This has been another TALE… OF… INTEREST…

  1. You gotta wonder who owns the rights to that boob picture because I really doubt it’s the Amazon seller
