I would get your order in as soon as possible. The hype for Prismatic Evolutions is already out of control despite it not being the best set ever. It feels similar to Pokemon SV 151 in that people may be buying it just to buy it. They aren’t really collectors or hobbyists, they’re hoarders and scalpers. Special sets like 151 and Prismatic Evolutions generally don’t have as large of print runs over time as normal sets and that’s exactly what scalpers are counting on.

Scalpers are absolutely going to buy up as much of Prismatic Evolutions as possible, they’ll game the preorder systems to order huge amounts of product, and then they’ll repost product for 100% profit. Just like they did with 151. And in the process they’ll piss everyone off, raise the entry cost to the hobby for kids and parents, and ultimately give the hobby a bad name.

And I mean you do know that for people creating master sets Prismatic Evolutions means financial death. Even if people aren’t ripping packs for their sets, which they probably shouldn’t, they’re still going to have to pay up to get copies of every single card off TCGPlayer and whatnot.

So we’re already starting off with a couple of problems, cost and scalpers. But hey, the hype train is here and everyone is getting on! You might as well buy a couple things now. $60 to prevent your fear of missing out seems like an acceptable trade to me.
