Will Prismatic Evolutions prices go down? The short answer is no.
As a special set, it is not likely that Prismatic Evolutions will be printed in massive quantities initially OR get a full on reprint in future. It will most likely be similar to 151 in that there will be an initial availability of product for several months, followed by only scalpers having product, to now with a few new products being released but no full on restocking of product.
Prismatic Evolutions has a number of products but no booster boxes remember. So if you want packs you either have to buy a binder or stickers with your packs or else hope you can find booster bundles… which you are not going to find. This further limits booster pack availability to you. If you don’t want a binder you’re out of luck basically.
And this happens for everyone. To get packs everyone has to compete for a limited number of products that have accessories but few packs instead of having demand satiated by booster boxes. A booster box contains 36 packs right… well to get 36 packs from the Surprise Box you’d have to order NINE of them at a MSRP of $207.
So Prismatic Evolutions is not going to be easy to get booster pack wise. People are going to purchase a significant amount of product just to get a booster box’s worth of packs. And this is just your normal person and doesn’t include scalpers or hoarders. Scalpers and hoarders are going to take up an astonishing amount of product. Store shelves are going to empty so quickly, people will be buying entire pallets from Costco again, and GameStop is going to sell out instantly.
You can see how there’s going to be massive pressure on supply pretty much regardless of how much The Pokemon Company prints. This is going to put upward pressure on prices. You are not going to see Prismatic Evolutions at MSRP for very long if at all, except at the PokemonCenter.com.
So that’s the longer answer. Prices simply are not going to go down. The hype for Prismatic Evolutions is too high and the availability of booster packs poor.
